Auditions

Auditions for our second play of 2024, ‘Bell Book and Candle‘, will take place on Saturday 16th March, 9am to 12noon, at Christ Church Hall, Cork Street, Yeronga.

Bell, Book and Candle is a Romantic Comedy/Fantasy set in 1958 New York. It is the story of an Interior Designer/Art Dealer (Gillian Holroyd) who also happens to be …. well…. a white witch. She is trying desperately NOT to fall in love with the man upstairs (Shep Henderson). You see, while Gillian is a very attractive young woman with all the qualities a 1950’s man might desire, and while Shep is certainly a very eligible Man, there are two serious problems: Firstly Shep is currently engaged to an old schoolmate of Gillian’s whom Gillian has a strong disliking for,  and secondly, if Gillian does happen to fall in love she will lose all her magic powers and become a mere mortal.

Add to the mix a crazy interfering Aunt (Aunt Queenie) and Gillian’s somewhat reckless and unreliable brother (Nicky) who is a man very much of the 1950’s jazz/beat generation, both of whom are also witches and not averse to using their own powers to move things along as they see fit and the situation gets very tricky – and funny – indeed.

Bring onto the scene the supposed ‘Authority’ on all things witchy (Sidney Redlitch) from whom the truth about witches must be hidden at all costs, and things get even trickier (if you will pardon the pun)
